What's your dream?

I was sent this clip (below) by a good friend who wrote “This will be you one day”. I played and coached basketball when I was younger. I love sport and being physically active, not just for the physical and mental health benefits but also for the friendships and connection with others it creates.

It’s a beautiful film and I love it for so many reasons. Watching the film over a couple of times I began to really listen and reflect on what the women were saying. They were all told consistently that they shouldn’t do it by friends and family and by themselves:

 “I’m too old”
“My brother’s said they’d put me away”
“I’m crazy”
“You’ll break your bones”

What I love is that they listened to these comments, put them in a little box and did it anyway. These women dared to dream. Grace Lucas at 91 is the Splash Teams Top scorer. She bought her first pair of basketball shoes and only started playing aged 78.

Looking at this film I am suddenly a youngster again and it might just be inspiring me to dig out my old boots!

What’s your dream and who is really holding you back from realising it?
